MARTIN PURYEAR at the NATIONAL GALLERY
On Saturday, Sept. 27, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. presents a major exhibition of the sculpture of the acclaimed American artist and CUA alumnus Martin Puryear, B.A. 1963.
The retrospective will feature approximately 45 sculptures, following the development of Puryear's artistic career over the last 30 years, from his first solo museum show in 1977 to the present day.

WEST COAST ALUMS: WE'LL "C.U." IN SEATTLE
On Friday, Oct. 3, CUA alumni living in the greater Seattle area are invited to join Very Reverend David M. O'Connell, C.M., president of The Catholic University of America, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Columbia Tower Club (701 5th Avenue, #75, Seattle, Wash.) for a special reception celebrating Catholic University.

SEPT. 23: JOHN CARROLL SOCIETY LECTURE
On Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6:45 p.m., join us at Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle (1725 Rhode Island Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Red Line, Farragut North), as Very Reverend David M. O'Connell, C.M., president of The Catholic University of America, delivers an address titled "The Journey Continues Today: Year of St. Paul" as part of the John Carroll Society Lecture Series.

After graduating from CUA, singer and activist Carol Lynn Maillard, B.A. 1973, wasted no time making her dreams a reality. That same year, this CUA alumna helped found Sweet Honey In The Rock — now an internationally renowned a cappella ensemble. In the 35 years since, this extraordinary African-American female vocal group has become a vital and innovative presence in the music culture of our nation's capital and beyond.

Kathryn M. V. Wasneski, B.A. 2006, married Sgt. Timothy J. Maurer (USMC) on June 14, 2008, in Scottsdale, Ariz. They currently live in Jacksonville, N.C. where Tim is stationed. They will honeymoon in Jamaica upon his return from a seven-month tour in Iraq.
John Walsh, B.A. 2008, gained his first employment out of CUA with the Republican National Committee. John hopes to help Senator John McCain and other Republicans in this year's upcoming elections.
Patrick J. Rohan, B.A. 2008, accepted a teaching position on the Caribbean island of Saint Maarten. He will be teaching French at Saint Dominic High School. | |
