July 2008

We're continuing our coundown until Homecoming and Reunions Weekend, Oct. 10–11, 2008, and the Office of Alumni Relations would like to share some photos from each of the classes that will be celebrating a reunion this fall. This month, we've gathered photos from the classes of 1993 and 1988, which join last month's galleries from the classes of 2003 and 1998. Click here to see this month's galleries, and check back all summer as we continue our celebration with photos dating all the way back to our newest Golden Cardinals, the Class of 1958

From Dec. 3 to Dec. 8, join the CUA Alumni Travel Club as we return to the Emerald Isle to discover the 40 shades of green there and explore the Irish countryside. Find yourself carried along at an impromptu session in a warm Irish pub. And, of course, browse the hundreds of quaint shops and stores lining the city streets.

The trip cost is $1,290 per person (including round-trip airfare from Washington, D.C.), and is open to all CUA alumni, family members and friends. The deadline for deposits is Aug. 15, 2008! For complete details on this exciting opportunity, click here.

As a student, Jerry Reynolds, B.A. 2002, learned how to manage a crisis firsthand. Jerry was the tour guide coordinator in undergraduate admissions during the fall of his senior year — the same year as the 9/11 terror attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. Five years later, this CUA alum would put these same skills to use responding to and managing a community development program after Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast.

Get involved with CUA’s Cardinal Careers Mentor Program. The program allows alumni from the Washington, D.C. metro area to mentor a CUA student through the Office of Career Services. This is a great way to share your professional career experiences with students on an informal basis.

For more information or to take part in this new initiative, contact Sarah Richards Burton in the Office of Alumni Relations or call 202-319-5608.

On Tuesday, August 19, The Catholic University of America will usher in the beginning of the new school year with the triumphant return of one of our most beloved student traditions — the annual Orientation week Lip Sync Contest.

Join fellow alums in our reserved seating section at 6 p.m. in the Pryzbyla Center Food Court stage area for complimentary refreshments. Then sit back with those old classmates and room mates, and enjoy a night of surefire laughs as CUA's student leaders and orientation advisers battle for the coveted championship belt in a war of silly send-ups of the world's most well-known songs.

This event is free, but reservations are strongly encouraged. To R.s.v.p., contact Brandon Romanchok in the CUA Office of Alumni Relations or call 202-319-5608.
