SENIOR CLASS PICNIC VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Free food and drinks for all who volunteer.
On Sunday, May 6, the Office of Alumni Relations needs a handful of enthusiastic volunteers to help run the Class of 2007 Senior Picnic. The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., and all volunteers receive free food and drinks. Contact Brandon Romanchok in the Office of Alumni Relations to volunteer today. |
CUA WELCOMES A PARADE OF FAMOUS FACES

Thanks to a number of famous visitors and guest lecturers, CUA has had a busy start to spring! On March 7, CUA welcomed U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.) to discuss U.S. relief and rebuilding efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. On March 22, Chilean ambassador Mariano Fernández spoke as part of the School of Arts and Sciences centennial lecture series. And on April 2, CUA welcomed Adrian Fenty, mayor of Washington, D.C., to discuss new legislation, initiatives and job opportunities in the District of Columbia.
On April 22, CUA welcomes Thomas Patrick Melady, Ph.D., former U.S. ambassador to Burundi, Uganda and the Holy See. For complete details on this event, contact Brandon Romanchok in the Office of Alumni Relations.

The date is not so far away – Homecoming and Reunions Weekend, Oct. 19-20, 2007. And we'd love to have your help! Come join the Homecoming and Reunions Committee and help spread the word about the weekend and join in the fun!

Rev. Stephen Privett, S.J., M.A. 1982, Ph.D. 1985, began his current tenure as the 27th president of the University of San Francisco on Sept. 15, 2000. Prior to his appointment at USF, Father Privett served as provost and academic vice president at Santa Clara University. As provost, he was responsible for oversight of student life, intercollegiate athletics, and academic affairs. To learn more, click here. |

On Monday, April 16, Very Rev. David M. O’Connell, C.M., sent a message of condolence to Charles Steger, the president of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, regarding the murder of more than 30 individuals on the Blacksburg, Va., campus. Father O'Connell also sent a letter to the Catholic University community that afternoon, which is available at this Web page.

ALUMNUS-TURNED-ACTOR RETURNS TO CUA
At the invitation of Very Rev. David M. O’Connell, C.M., president of Catholic University, one of CUA’s most famous alumni visited campus on Friday, March 30. Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight, B.A. 1960, who was in town filming a movie, returned to CUA for the first time since his graduation. Click here to learn more!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2007 COMMENCEMENT
White House Press Secretary Tony Snow will address graduates at The Catholic University of America’s 118th Annual Commencement Ceremony, to be held Saturday, May 12, 2007. The topic of Snow’s address will be "Reason, Faith, Vocation." Alumni volunteers are needed prior to the commencement exercises to assist in the distribution of CUA alumni pins.
