On Friday, October 13, the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center will play host to "A Cardinal Celebration," the annual Catholic University Alumni Awards dinner, at which the Very Rev. David M. O'Connell, C.M., president, will present Catholic University's 2006 Alumni Achievement Awards.
Join us for this evening of celebration and meet some of CUA's most accomplished alumni. Andrea Roane, co-anchor of 9News and university trustee, will be the distinguished Master of Ceremonies. Kick off Family Weekend by sharing in the recognition of those who make CUA a family tradition! The CUA Alumni Association invites all alumni who might be back on campus to attend a fun and free luncheon with their current student relatives! The Legacy Luncheon will be hosted in McMahon Hall Foyer on Friday, September 29, from noon to 2 p.m.

Join a select group of local CUA Alumni for the CUA Executive Network Lunch, hosted by Peter T. Ryan, C.P.A., B.S. 1983. On Thursday, September 21, join us for lunch as Peter T. Ryan of Ryan and Wetmore, PC, briefs an exclusive group of CUA alumni on how his organization’s innovative approach in accounting and management consulting has enabled him to help his clients become more efficient, more competitive, and more profitable.

On Friday, November 17, CUA's "Rome Trio" -- composed of associate professors Jody Gatwood, violin, Robert Newkirk, cello, and Professor Marilyn Neely, piano -- will perform an evening concert at Holy Trinity Church in New York as part of the Music At Holy Trinity series. The subscription concert series presents prominent and outstanding artists from around the USA and abroad, and promises to be an exciting evening as three of Catholic University's finest musicians take the stage.

On Thursday, September 21, CUA is pleased to welcome back to campus Tarek Saab, B.E.E. 2001, and contestant for Season 5 of NBC's ‘The Apprentice’ with Donald Trump, and his business partner, Dave Colletti, Jr., B.A. 2000, for the first installment of this year's Young Alumni Guest Speaker Series.
Hear Tarek share his experiences on "The Reality of Reality Television," and see what Tarek and Dave have planned for their latest business venture, Lionheart Apparel.
After the presentation... join Tarek and Dave at Fado Irish Pub - located at 808 7th St NW (one block from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro). Afterwards, stay for a great concert as Dave's friends, Scythian, perform at Fado at 9 p.m.

Are you a history buff? Join your fellow CUA alums on Saturday, September 30 for a guided tour of the battlefield of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania led by noted Civil War historian Garry E. Adelman! Tickets for the tour are only $45, and include lunch and transportation to and from Gettysburg. The bus will leave the parking lot of CUA at 8:30 a.m.

This fall, CUA's School of Library and Information Science kicks off a celebration of its 25th Anniversary. To start, the SLIS Alumni Board will be hosting an Afternoon Tea at D.C.'s famous Mansion on O Street on Saturday, October 14 with proceeds to benefit the School's Elizabeth Stone scholarship.

The School of Arts and Science and the Department of Biology invite you to attend an Arts and Sciences Centennial Series 2006-2007 lecture on Friday, September 22. The lecture, part of the Biology Graduate Student Research Symposium, will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center.
Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Fauci oversees research ranging from the study of potential bioterrorism agents to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases such as AIDS, influenza, and malaria. Dr. Fauci also serves as a key advisor to the White House on these global health issues. In his own research, Dr. Fauci is a leader in the fields of human immunoregulation and HIV infection; he has more than a thousand scientific publications to his credit.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2006, join CUA Alums Ed Gillespie, B.A. '83, former Chairman of the Republican National Committee; and Terry McAuliffe, B.A. '79, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C., as these two former party chairs (and schoolmates!) share their insight in what is sure to be a timely and pertinent debate on the eve of November's all-important mid-term elections. Fellow CUA alumnus Dan Varroney, B.A. '78, President and CEO of the Association for Corporate Growth will serve as moderator for the event.
